At the heart of Virgin is “smart disruption” and a desire to be the world’s most irresistible brand. They did it on land, in the air, and wanted to deliver something different on the water. The answer, Virgin Cruises, a big boat experience with tropical destinations geared towards adults—no kids, no family obligations. The logo was inspired by the movement of water. Visuals were reflections of my childhood in Hawaii, dreamy locales, the freedom of David Hockney's Pool series, and vintage surfer mags.
